Codeshare Flights

TRAVELLING WITH OTHER AIRLINES ON YOUR GULF AIR TICKET

Gulf Air tickets issued for travel on other Airlines to/from the USA and Canada

If you purchase a Gulf Air ticket to/from the USA or Canada that involves a connection with a flight operated by another airline (for American Airlines see policy above), your free baggage allowance is based on a combination of how many piece(s) you can carry and a maximum weight per individual piece. Individual airlines have varying policies on this and as such we would refer you to their website to ensure you have the most up to date information as to your free allowance and any potential charges before you set out on your journey.

Gulf Air tickets issued for travel on other Airlines excluding the USA and Canada

If you purchase a Gulf Air ticket that involves a connection with a flight operated by an airline, that is not a Gulf Air codeshare partner; the baggage allowance of that operating airline applies to their flight irrespective of where you have commenced your journey. Please see the baggage allowance on the website of the airline you will be travelling on and plan accordingly.

Separate tickets or no through check-in facility to an onward destination

Please note that if you hold separate tickets for your journey or if your baggage cannot be checked through to your final destination (i.e., if you must claim your baggage due to immigration clearance or airport restrictions requiring you to recheck your baggage with your next airline), you will be subject to the applicable baggage allowance of the airline operating each flight.

Excess Baggage

Gulf Air provides their customers with some of the most generous baggage allowances in the industry. if your baggage still exceeds the free baggage allowances, a competitive charge will be levied at the airport by our Customer Service staff.

If you are travelling your entire journey on Gulf Air Operated flights, Gulf Air now offers  new excess baggage charges per kilo, dependant on the ‘zone’ of your origin and destination within the entire Gulf Air network. You can calculate it yourself and plan it ahead with your travel budget.

If you are travelling with other airlines on your Gulf Air ticket, another baggage policy is applied. The below unique and competitive rates do not apply to codeshare flights operated by partner airlines, interline itineraries with other airline in combination with Gulf Air or flights to and from USA & Canada.

For example

A customer traveling from PARIS (Zone 4) to BANGKOK (Zone 5) in Economy Class with 35 kg can count on a free baggage allowance of 30 kg .Based on the below table the rate per kilo for this journey is USD30, therfore, the total excess baggage to pay is (5 kg x USD30) = USD150.

Rates per 1 kg

As an alternative, if your journey starts from Bahrain, you now have the option to pay for your excess baggage using Gulf Air Frequent Flyer miles in multiples of 5 kg.

Miles per 5 kg

Note that miles can be used in 5 kg blocks only and no residual miles can be credited back. For example if you choose to use your miles to pay for 3 kg excess baggage from Bahrain to Muscat, you will need to redeem a 5 kg miles block for 1000 FFP miles.
